Project Description

This project promotes economic independence, social inclusion, and dignity for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Myanmar and Cambodia by enhancing access to vocational education, inclusive employment, entrepreneurship, and public awareness. A total of 200 PWDs received vocational training program to pursue training in IT, languages, finance, customer service, and culinary arts, supported by a transparent selection committee and inclusive training centers. Disability Awareness Training was provided to 40 instructors and staff to foster supportive learning environments. Employment pathways were strengthened through the certification of 35 Job Coaches, who supported 200 PWDs in job placement and workplace integration. Inclusive employment was further promoted through Disability Inclusion Training for 70 company representatives and Online Sign Language Training for 50 staff, while a PWD Workers’ Network facilitated peer support and professional growth. Entrepreneurship was advanced by supporting 25 disability-led businesses, with 12 reporting increased profits through consultations. Visibility and market access were enhanced through the “Beyond Barriers: Inclusive Innovation Expo.” Living conditions for 120 PWDs improved through tailored assistive devices and training on their use. Public awareness was amplified via 28 disability-focused videos reaching over 70,000 viewers, and annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) events celebrated achievements and fostered employer engagement. Regional collaboration was strengthened through learning exchange workshops in Cambodia, promoting shared insights and sustainable networks. These integrated efforts led to increased economic independence and social inclusion for PWDs, enhanced employer engagement, and the establishment of sustainable support systems. The project contributes to a more equitable and inclusive society where persons with disabilities can thrive with dignity, opportunity, and visibility.
